International GCSE in Mathematics

Now you can attend International Mathematics GCSE at Foundation College. This ideal pre-IB and pre-A-level programme is taught by evening classes which you can attend in person in Kifisia or from home via zoom twice a week over one year.

Who are we ?

Foundation College is a teaching and examination centre dedicated to the preparation of students for entry to British undergraduate courses since 1988 that was recently awarded the Pearson/Edexcel Outstanding School Award.

Where ?

Teaching will be done at Foundation College in Kifisia but classes can also be attended remotely via zoom. The classes may also be offered (subject to sufficient interest) in the IMS premises on Leoforos Kifisias 296 about 500m from the pedestrian bridge at Filothei with easy access from the Psihiko and Filothei schools.

Why only Mathematics International GCSEs ?

GCSEs and IGCSEs are not mandatory prerequisites for those studying for A-levels or the IB because the 1st year of lykeio is sufficient to Greek students to enter either A-levels or the IB. However studying academic subjects in English familiarises students with what is coming later. Mathematics, as a subject, is quite universal in its scope and all students will benefit from furthering their knowledge in this key subject. The same could be said for English but, sadly, English IGCSE requires a rather high level of knowledge which is often not present in many of the students enteringLykeio. More academic subjects may be offered in future years.

When ?

Teaching starts in September 2026. There are two classes (lasting 2 hours)  per week. Classes are between 4:45 - 6:45 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays each week from 15 September to 15 May.

Where will I take my examinations ?

You can sit the IGCSE in Mathematics at Foundation College in Kifisia. You can also sit these examinations at your current school (if your school is an examination centre) or at the British Council in Athens or Thessaloniki. Our teaching schedule prepares students for the June examination session but exams (or re-examinations to improve grades) can also be taken in November of each year.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for IGCSE Mathematics are 3200 euro per year. The tuition fees do not include the examination fees which are payable per examination paper that a student sits ( each IGCSE subject envisages two written exams) at the examination centre. Typical examination fees are 100 euro per examination paper.
